I’m sure you are all tired of seeing Belize posts by now, but I literally forgot about an entire memory card of beautiful pictures! There ended up being a TON of pictures on this post so let me know if it is slow to load. If you are just looking for outfit deets, do a quick scroll to the very bottom. On the fourth day of our trip, we had our scuba dive post-poned due to dangerous undercurrent. Instead, we decided to rent a golf cart and take it out to the best beach on Ambergris Caye- Secret Beach! I plan to share this coral or bright red swimsuit by Solid & Striped at Secret Beach.
Brad loading up our rental cart. Brad’s shorts are by HOWLER BROS, shoes are CHACOS, and hat is REPMYWATER.com. The pink ‘Get Bent’ tank is from our yoga studio, Zanti Power Yoga. We crossed this inlet to get out of San Pedro. The water is an incredible blue!
A local barbecue fundraiser offers $10 BZD ($5 USD) plates that are plenty large enough for two. Literally everyone on the island grills barbecue island style on Sunday. We grabbed some Emperador cookies and cokes from a gas station, filled our golf cart, and headed North.
Now known as the “not-so-secret beach,” it was 10 miles North on the island and another 7 miles Northwest to the far inside corner of the island. The last 7 miles was off-road and was terribly bumpy. Via golf cart, the trip was about 45 minutes from San Pedro. If the ride to Secret Beach was our tensing yoga practice, arriving to the beach was savasana!
In addition to Sunday being the Belizean “day off,” the Monday was Labor Day. Therefore everyone on the island was enjoying the calm inside of the island and beautiful beach. Neighboring island boats pulled up onto the sandy beach. Children were playing on the inflatable trampoline and clear bottom floats. Teens were sitting on the dock playing reggaeton. Luckily, a couple that had been holding these chairs all morning had JUST walked away as we arrived.
There was a convenient bar whose advertising made the beach a well-known commodity. However, there was still plenty of beach to share, views to take in, and room to enjoy. The fancy drinks stay color-separated by three different density rums. Neither I nor hubby can remember its name, but it is a treat. We enjoyed our homemade coconut rice and barbecue, read, talked to some neighbors, and took some selfies! As you can see by all the pictures, I was seriously amused by these drinks and giddy at the entire situation…
Brad hated on selfie sticks so bad in Paris, but I finally just bought one and we both ended up loving it. We both hate asking people to take our photos. The drinks match Brad’s shorts!
During the winter Shopbop sale, I purchased about 6 swimsuits. This red one-piece by Solid & Striped swim has perfectly contouring to the body. Solid & Striped has an amazing fit, great fabrics, and fun bold colors. Next, I want THIS pale pink and white gingham set. I also love THIS ombre one-piece.
Geez the sun was so harsh!
“Live in the sunshine, swim the sea, drink the wild air.” – Ralph Waldo Emmerson
Me getting really, really annoyed that Brad can’t figure out how to get a selfie of us in the water so he is taking an incessant photos of me grumpy, which is amplifying the situation! (Haha!)
If only I had a dollar for every time I re-did my ponytail…
Here are some more photos of the beach as everyone began to leave and the sun started to set- at about 4:30 PM, might I add!
We finally asked a nice lady to take a picture of us together. She ended up being on our same plane home the next day!
One can always tell when Brad is happy: always 🙂 His attitude is contagious. Here he is, engrossed in a story:
Can I just tell you that the lady in the hijab was washing fruit in the populated beach water? There was a long debate on why she chose this location to wash her fruit. Any ideas?
The road back to San Pedro holds a yoga retreat that calls our souls to drop in. It was so serene and welcoming, so I took some time to practice a little flow. My favorite yoga poses are below. I only do inversions and difficult poses well when I am in the moment and highly focused like this day.
Dancer Pose^^^ Firefly- my favorite, below:
Brad’s response when I force him to do a yoga pose for a photo:
Taking in the beautiful sunset and the surreal scenery.
High Plank – such an underrated pose!
Chinstand.
Tree pose.
Half Lotus Prep.
Flying Pigeon
I legitimately could have sat here for hours. NAMASTE!
My favorite thing about this day was that we got to take it easy and just do whatever our little hearts pleased! A no-pressure time out and day of spontaneity is so rare for us. Days like this truly enrich our life and it is my goal to create that mindset at home. Because we honeymooned in Europe, Belize and Secret beach in particular are the tropical, still destination we had not experienced together.

I hope you find peace in these photos. Maybe they inspire you to seek Secret Beach when you find yourself on Ambergris Caye or Caye Caulker. It is a truly unique and beautiful location. Set aside a day soon to spend on adventure. Maybe you and a friend or loved one get up early and make the day’s plans over coffee. Maybe you simply pack a couple clothing changes, get in the car, and go. Whatever you choose, remember to stay present. Feel the sun, see the colors, smell the flowers, hear the birds, taste each bite. Try to rid yourself of worries, to-do lists, and obligations. I promise they will still be there the next day and I believe we, or you, are far too overworked and overstimulated.
I believe we all possess an Indian Jones bone. Mine happens to be my hips- which, as you can tell are rather large.
With Joy,
Audrey
