30 sounded scary to me, but honestly I feel no different than 29. I would say that age truly becomes a number at this crossing line.
There is something I’ve realized is great about 30. I have always worked to live up to my ideal vision of myself. Oftentimes, my vision is truly unreachable because I hold myself to unrealistic expectations. Although I am aware of this habit, the effects are self-doubt and frustration. (A prime example is my 30 before 30 list HERE).
Getting a bit real yet morbid- I truly did not think I would live this long growing up and in college. It had never really occurred to me to envision myself at or after 30, so I truly have no expectations for myself. This is a surprisingly freeing concept.
I am very happy with where I am and what I have accomplished in life. Of course it would have been nice to check off more boxes or do this or that, but I am very content with the journey God has provided. It is not beyond me that I am extremely blessed. I have maximized personal growth and self-study the past 5 years. Of course I have an enormous list of goals, but there is no longer a subconscious rush or anxiety behind fruition by a fictitious date that ends my youth.
On the other hand, I feel like I have the next decade to do, travel, dream, grow, and accomplish whatever I want! I can say I left much fear and doubt in my twenties.
I have felt sort of protective of my dreams lately. The more I share and pull down walls to reveal my dreams creates vulnerability. I can pretend I never really wanted this or that if I don’t share- right? Therefore, I am sharing my latest to-do list and personal goals in an effort to be real as well as feel held accountable. The best part about these items on my near future to-do list is that they are dreams that I have been manifesting for a long time. If any of these things happen at any point, I will be beyond happy. If they do not – well it is what it is. I’ve come to really love that quote.
It’s your turn. Share your dreams with me! What do you think of mine? The majority of my readers are 18-35, but most of you are over 25. How do you feel each time you add a number to your age?
