2019 has been beautiful to us so far. I cannot believe we are almost done with Q1 (the first quarter). I feel renewed and ready to start a new chapter of success, happiness, and gratefulness. Our mindset has brought these to fruition already. I am very happy with where I am right now and I love to share my personal life tools in hopes that you can implement ones that work for you in yours. Read on to see how I am embracing life lately and how you can also.
- Find gratitude. In past years, I have lived high-strung and overwhelmed. I am perseverant and quite the dreamer, so I struggle to embrace the journey. However, lately, Brad and I have focused on the little things and found great happiness with them. For instance, our house is a mess from construction, yet we are really enjoying watching each step unfold. More affordably, we are spending more time cooking together, working out, and watching TV together. We talk about the shows we watch and our hopes and dreams. Be sure to balance talk of dreams with actively discussing successes and gratitude. Even casual statements like “can you believe we have come so far?” or “Wow, we have owned a home for 5 years” or “Can you believe I have 5 years of career experience under my belt?” are all ways of acknowledging success in where you are in life.
Done is better than perfect. I am quite the perfectionist. Unfortunately, perfectionism usually means more stress and wasted time. “Done is better than perfect” has been my main mantra lately. I have decidedly turned my mediocre satisfaction to completion. This has allowed me to get a lot of chores completely and post more content on my blog. If you are a perfectionist like me, I highly recommend you hang this quote up where you can see it daily.
“Nothing new ever came from staying the same.”
Seize Opportunity. I will be the first to admit that I don’t do the best job seizing opportunity that comes my way. Much hesitation comes from self-doubt and anxiety. We all have a habit of conforming to our personality and routine, so it can be hard to change our habits. The phrase, “Nothing new comes from staying the same” has really resonated with me as of late. I have big dreams, but if I have not brought them to fruition already then I need to embrace change and growth until I reach them. Therefore, I have made a point to myself to seize opportunity lately. Opportunity can present itself as a new friendship or relationship, a coffee date, a networking event, a job interview, a new job description or task, or any new challenge. Opportunity will not always knock on our door so be sure to seek it actively.
Next, some concrete examples of seizing opportunity have helped me embrace life recently. I have made new blog friendships lately by grabbing coffee with acquaintances. I put myself out there and ironically these new friendships have filled my cup. A spontaneous trip to take pictures with my new friend Hannah is one example of seizing opportunity.
I have been able to post more content lately by completing, rather than perfecting, the content. Finally, I have filled my personal cup by finding gratitude in the little moments.

I hope you are able to use some of these to help embrace life more. We only get one life to live and when it comes down to it, love and relationships are all that matter. Have a beautiful afternoon!
With Joy,
Audrey
