Happy Monday loves! It has been such a Monday, am I right? How are your New Years’ Resolutions going? Mine got reanalyzed and sorted after my husband had an accident. Working out has fell to the bottom of my priority list. Fortunately, I am of the belief that fitness SHOULD be at the bottom of the totem pole when it comes to wellness. Physical health, self-love, and mental wellness must take precedence before we can workout. With a full-time job and other side priorities, there are truly only 24 hours in a day. I enjoyed trying the teatox program from SkinnyMint. Read on to see how I worked it into my routine and what I thought of the product.
I received the 28-day Teatox complimentary from SkinnyMint. All the following opinions are 100% my own.
I begin each day lately with a tall coffee, up the anti with an afternoon Red Bull, and end my evening with a full glass of water. I use several anti-histamines a day to combat my eczema (that makes a guest appearance in these photos). I’ve developed quite the caffeine habit to combat the drowsiness side effects that coincide the histamines.
Brazilian jui-juitsu, and kickboxing, Matrix TRX, and hot yoga are just not the same without my hubby by my side, so I decided to back away from all the workouts I was doing and focus on the essentials. When I do all those workouts in a week, I tend to overeat. I mean I eat double what my husband eats – and plus some. When I saw the opportunity, I knew trying the SkinnyMint 28-day Teatox would be a great way to cut back on caffeine, yet maintain my summer body while I took a break from heavy HIIT workouts.
The 28-day Teatox comes with 28 “Morning Boost” Tea packets with a light tea that resembles flavored water after brewing. The morning boost included dandelion, nettle, mate, green tea, and guarana herbs. The green tea was the most notable of the flavor profile. As I stated earlier, I have eczema and a holistic nutritionists believe that leafy greens and dandelion, in particular, are essential to remove toxins and allergens from the body. One of the easiest ways to consume dandelion is through tea. I felt as though my eczema was not nearly as bad in the 28 days as it usually is. I will say that I have also been eating very clean during the Teatox simply to help heal my eczema and avoid allergens.
The tea is easy to make: you steep the packet in boiling water for 2-3 minutes.
The morning boost does contain caffeine, 62 mg per serving, and it was enough to keep me peppy, without additional coffee or caffeine drinks, through the afternoon. Your typical cup of coffee contains about 90 mg.
The Night cleanse included senna leaf, or sennosides (the key ingredient in natural stool softeners), and a blend of ginger, orange, lemongrass, peppermint, liquorice, hawthorne, psyllium, and natural lemon flavouring. The night cleanse taste was more distinct, earthy (in the best way) and was my favorite profile of the two sets of teas. I preferred the night cleanse flavors. There were 14 night cleanse packets to consume every other evening. I replaced my late night cup of water with the tea every other night.
Overall, I enjoyed the ‘Teatox’ and felt it kept me focused and attentive to my digestive system. This is something I am putting a lot of emphasis and attention to in order to help my eczema. I did not feel like the Teatox curbed my appetite, which was good because it is not what I was going for. It may have sped up my digestive system. I feel regularly drinking the tea made me feel healthier and kept healthy eating and smart consumption fresh on my mind. I did feel like the tea helped ease my bloating at work on the day I snuck a donut (I am very allergic to gluten, but cannot help myself at times!) When I eat bread and gluten-based products I literally go from SkinnyMinnie to 4-months-pregnant-with-twin-donut-holes (so glad to have finally figured this out after years of simply thinking I was eating too much). I was excited to see that the dandelion in the Morning Boost did help debloat and ease my alllergic response. Finally, I think the tea helped me feel regular and peppier than usual. It also kicked me out of my caffeine habit although I do enjoy my Red Bull!
