Happy Thursday, everyone! I wanted to share what I wore for our official fancy date night in Belize. It was the coolest evening, but still hot enough to melt my curled hair straight and frizzy. Hidden Treasures is a MUST and was our favorite spot in Ambergris Caye!
First, we had heard about a rooftop restaurant on the way to Secret Beach called Rain. It was late and we had to rent a taxi to get there.
We had already missed sunset so we decided to check out another place that was super romantic called Hidden Treasures, and boy, does the name fit! The place screams James Bond vibes.
We call for a reservation, there is no wait, and they are sending a golf cart to pick us up. Because the pickup does not arrive after 10 minutes, they cover cost for the nearest taxi we can find. Luckily, 1 of about 5 taxi vans on the island turns the corner at that moment. Therefore, we flag him down and hop in.
We arrive and are escorted through a garden and sat immediately. They bring us cold, folded eucalyptus hand towels on a platter so we can wipe our hands. The waiter said, “eucalyptus towel for the lady?” and I replied, in my southern best, “uhh…. for what?” Sometimes I wonder if I will ever get the Easley out of me.
I order Mango Sangria and Brad orders a Belikin, naturally. They are brought promptly.
Brad orders a stuffed grouper dish with steamed veggies and I order Caribbean Jerk Shrimp with steamed veggies and coconut rice. Our dinner is brought out quickly and each bite is amazing and packed with the perfect amount of flavor.
The waitstaff is impeccable to the point where a customer accidentally knocks a fork off the table and a waiter grabs it seconds after it hits the floor. Furthermore, a replacement is brought immediately. As a result, we agreed that the staff had more urgency and attention than any other on the island.
For dessert, we order Key Lime Pie and again, it is delicious!
Dinner is $90 USD total, and is very affordable for the experience and in comparison to other options on the island.
We were driven home on a golf cart by a young fellow around our age that had grown up on the island. Finally, we went to bed happy and with full bellies!
We took more pictures while we waited for the driver (golf cart), and enjoyed the beautiful garden patio surrounded with thick tropical plants, outdoor couches, lighting, and incence containers scattered about that had long burned out earlier in the day.
WHAT I WORE
I wore this beautiful double-tiered grey dress by MISSGUIDED. It is sooo comfortable and the lace portion does not budge. As a result, I love this dress and cannot wait to wear it often this summer! . The criss cross back stays in place. I’m typically a 4 in jeans and 0 in tops, and am wearing a size 2 here for reference. Finally, I especially like the discreet, small strip of plastic-like material at the bottom of the tiers that help create the flowy shape of the dress. It is very flattering for a ladylike figure.
I was going to wear THESE shoes in cognac, but the island is dusty, hot, and muggy, so THESE pink slides won for my shoes!
