Happy Tuesday Everyone! On Thursday, the public can finally shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! I wanted to share a post that would be helpful now and for years to come. Over the past few years, I have paid attention to blog posts and what everyone gravitates to during the sale. Basically, I’ve already done your research.
There is definitely a pattern and the same items and brands sell out quickly year after year. Although the color variations change and details vary by trend, it is easy to predict what sells out and best plan your purchases. Finally, read on to get the low-down on what ALWAYS sells out.
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Staples That Always Sell Out
Camel coats (XS or 4)– If there is a camel coat, it WILL sell out. There were three variations this year and they all sold out the first 2 days of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.
The fun jacket (S)– BlankNYC always has a vegan leather jacket. This year it was especially popular with the removable hood. The lighter colors sell fastest since most people already have black and brown jackets.
BlankNYC Suede Moto Jacket (S)– The colors vary, but this classic Moto style ALWAYS sells out. The beige and dark green colors, usually the most neutral of options, sells out first.
Badgley Mischka Wrap Coat (XS)– Most recently sported by Meghan Markle and a staple of every fashion icon, the wrap coat always sells out. Simple in design, the broad collar and cinch waist accentuates feminine curves. It is warm, simple, and over 30% off the normal $350 retail price. In addition, it is not restocked. This year, the camel color sold out the first 6 hours of the sale. No matter the color variations, the Badgley Mischka wrap coats, and the dupe variation by Tahari, always sells out during the sale.
Zella Leggings (S) -A Nordstrom shopper favorite, the Zella leggings are comparable to Lululemon, suck in at all the right places, and are only $35 during the sale.
The IT jean (25-26) – The “it” jean is usually a designer option, ranging from $150-$300 in normal prices. There is always one or two highly popular pairs of denim that sells out. The 2018 sell-outs are the AG ripped legging and the Madewell 10-inch high waisted skinny. Look for the skinny, designer brand, medium wash versions with subtle, trendy details like the one-leg rip and split seams (pictured). Finally, if you sort options by “featured” the more popular options will be listed first.
Fall & Winter hats (M)- The Treasure & Bond and Rag & Bone brands both had a classic fall/winter hat for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Both sold out the first day. If it comes back in stock, purchase it asap. Otherwise, look for the floppy hat in
BP Lace Trim camis (XS) – Silk camis + Cardigans = instant transitional outfit. The BP camis sell out every year during the first week. The camis do come back in stock for full price, but the white and black sale camis always sell out. If you think you want to grab one for fall, do so quickly.
Madewell Cardigans (XS) – Madewell is the first brand I search after I have made my first round of must-haves. All Madewell clothes sell out the first week. Cardigans
B.P. Cardigans (XXS) – Cardigans ALWAYS sell out because the styles change yearly and a cardi adds warmth and color to an otherwise dull fall look. You can bet that the fun, unique colors WILL sell out. I like the BP cardigans because they are only $31 during the sale, are great quality, and come in bold colors. I size down in this particular style.
The basic tee (XS) – Another layering staple, LUSH, BP, and Caslon always feature a basic tee in 8-12 color options. Black, white, and striped variations always sell out quick.
Plaid shirts and tunics (XS)– Whether you opt for a Rails brand classic flannel shirt marked down to $100 or go for the beautiful dupe version by BP, you cannot go wrong adding a fun fall flannel to your closet. The navy, green, and classic red variations go first.
Barefoot Dreams Blanket – You have no idea what you are missing if you do not own this blanket. I literally have it in 3 colors. It is beautiful, fun, warm, uber soft, AND never loses its incredible softness. Even Kim Kardashian raves about this blanket. Just do yourself a favor and add to cart. This is the cheapest you will ever find it at $118. Even my husband LOVES this blanket. Usually the grey and linen leopard prints sell out first.
Long sleeve basic tee (XS) – The same brands and colors of the basic tee are usually offered in a long-sleeve variation. The black and white striped version sells first.
A free people blouse, tunic, or dress (XS) – Free People usually includes 5-6 pieces in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. What sells fastest varies, but the prettiest printed dress, tunic, or blouse that catches your eye will not be in stock for long. Free People is usually my second searched brand after Madewell.
Dreamers by Debut Sweater (XS)- This brand of sweaters is the softest! They usually offer a simple, long sweater in solid colors. I am not the only one that knows that this brand is incredibly soft because the sweater they offer yearly always sells out.
Note: clothes go faster than shoes during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.
The tall boot (8)– Whether it be a designer over-the-knee version by Stuart Weitzman or Vince Camuto’s knee-high style, the lighter colors always sell out. If Tory Burch has a knee-high riding boot you can bet it will sell out fast as well.
The IT trendy bootie – There is always a heeled bootie with adorable details that sells fast. 2018 is a big year for camel and cognac colors. The boots with western-influenced details sold quickly.
The IT classic bootie – Solid booties with a pointed toe are always classic and elongate the leg. I believe the white booties will sell out this year.
Tory Burch flats (8) –Tory Burch usually has 3-5 styles of shoes in the Nordstrom sale. The flats are a staple that is always snatched first. I just bought my third pair of black Tory Burch flats and I know I will wear this pair out per usual.
Leopard print shoes – This year there were so many leopard print shoe options! All of them sold out. We can take this as another year of assurance that leopard IS JUST ANOTHER NEUTRAL.
The IT sneaker (8)– The colorful sneaker. Brands vary, but the sneakers of the Nsale always sell out. Adidas, Nike, Puma, and Converse shoes will always sell well. The most colorful options definitely disappear first, but classic black and grey pairs also sell. To summarize, if you need new sneaks, check them out asap.
Tory Burch bags – Tory Burch bags are durable, stylish, and well-made. Shoppers tend to gravitate toward solid colors, crossbodies, and versatile options. I grabbed a cognac crossbody wallet style this year for $151. Tory Burch tote styles, as pictured, are excellent work bags and have a sleeve to keep your laptop safe.
Finally, I hope I have given you a heads up and helped your decision making! I will say that if you were to buy one thing from the collage, buy the blanket! You will not regret it!
Everything in my collage is a classic staples for your wardrobe and can be worn year after year. Everything in the collage is also a repeated item from the last several Nordstrom Anniversary Sales. The details and colors may vary, but you seriously cannot go wrong. Plus, it is fun to think about fall and winter fashion in the dead of summer.
Remember that the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale goes live to the public this THURSDAY at 3 AM EST (12 PM on the West Coast).
