My Airport Look and What to Bring in Your Carry-On

Happy Monday Everyone! So without further ado I have several posts about Belize scheduled over the next couple weeks.  I wanted to start with showing you my airport look and how I dressed during travel!

I wore my Converse Chuck Taylor All-Stars and a comfortable Madewell Dress that matches almost too well! Everything Madewell sells lives up to the brand name and is made of the best quality and fabrics. Their clothing is not the type that gets holes in the wash, fades, or changes shape. I abuse and wear everything I buy from them over and over. This dress is super comfortable but is from last year.  This year’s version of this dress can be found HERE and HERE. Either are great airport looks.

Next, you always want to have a long cardigan or light coat for the ride. I am literally always cold with no exceptions and flights can get really frigid.

My parents bought me THIS luggage set, seen pictured, for my birthday and it held SO much. In fact, we reached the 50 pound weight limit before we even filled the suitcase half full and spent nearly an hour removing more items!

Airports are pretty abusive on luggage and my case was certainly not an exception.  There were lots of bruises and marks on my case after our trip, but it blended so well with the marble design you can hardly see it. I vacuumed it out and got most of the marks off with a magic eraser once we returned home. The flexy hard case has a 3-digit TSA lock, double zippers, 360 degree roll, side and top handles, a retractable handle, a zip-up separating center with 3 pockets, completely removable liner, and an extra zipper that expands the volume.

Finally, I wore my new favorite accessory- the boater hat, that came in handy for helping for my husband Brad spot me as well as shade me once we got to Belize.  Normally, I would bring a felt hat, sun hat, or baseball cap.  Wearing it on the flight is not troublesome and ensures it does not get bent in luggage.

We checked this case and I used my Louis Vuitton Neverful MM Tote as my carry on.

What to Bring in Your Carry-On

  1. Eye mask. For naps, of course! I have, love, and recommend THIS one.
  2. A good book. I read Girl Boss and Chasing Slow– some of the better reads I’ve found in a while (reviews for both to come)!
  3. Hand Sanitizer. Airports = germs galore and I almost always come back with something, Belize included! I use THIS lavender version.
  4. Headphones. To watch movies on Delta’s Gogo entertainment app or to listen to music.
  5. Passport & boarding passes. Make sure it is up to date ahead of time!
  6. Wallet.
  7. Phone. I keep my phone in an aqua THIS Lifeproof case. They are expensive, but “Audrey-proof” as my husband puts it.  If my phone comes out of its case for 2 hours it will be broken.
  8. Sunglasses. In case your neighbor refuses to close the window that is shining right on your face!
  9. Tablet, Laptop, or Camera.  I prefer my technology close during travel- you never know!
  10. Toiletries or makeup bag. I prefer to carry my makeup bag just in case my luggage is lost. Make sure to put all lotions and creams in a plastic bag to avoid delays at security.
  11. Chapstick. I always have several SPF filled chapsticks handy, but airplane cabins can be very dry and cause chapped lips. THIS is my favorite kind!
  12. Clarins Beauty Flash Balm. I put it on right before we land and it completely closes my pores, primes, protects, and refreshes my face!
  13. Tissues. I hate waking a sleeping neighbor to get out of my aisle, so carrying tissues can help keep you from multiple bathroom trips.
  14. Scrunchie. Flights mean a top bun for me, but a scrunchie won’t leave marks in your hair.
  15. Battery Pack and USB Charger cord. Most flights have a USB plug available, but I also like to have a charged battery and cord available.
  16. S’well Waterbottle.  This is the BEST water bottle and keeps water cold forever!

Items you May Want for Longer Flights:

  1. Neck Pillow
  2. Dry Shampoo
  3. Toothbrush, toothpaste
  4. Deodorant
  5. Makeup wipes
  6. Scarf (Doubles as an extra blanket)
  7. Extra Set of clothes (In case you are worried about your luggage getting lost)

I prefer to wear a light swinging dress for a comfortable airport look, but if you are not into dresses, jeans or denim shorts with a comfortable v-neck t-shirt and cardigan are always stylish. Even leggings and a cute athletic top work.
