Transitional Casual Basics and Coffee

Happy Friday sweet souls! Greenville has an awkward way of being both freezing and randomly warm in the winter. I wanted to go ahead and share a spring-appropriate, casual basics with my favorite pieces.

My sister Tillman took these photos when we last went to West Greenville. The photos are in one of the best coffee shops in town, The Village Grind. All of these basics are some of my favorites in my closet. Let me give you the run down of them, because I know any girl next door can find tons of variations and looks in which to style them.

BLACK TEE

First, the basic V-neck black tee I am wearing is always on Nordstrom’s website under brands such as BP, Madewell, Lush, etc. I will link this exact one at the bottom. I love this classic tee because it is very front-tuckable due to slits in either side seam. The little pocket and thick seam along the neck are great quality.

BLACK SUNGLASSES

Next, everyone needs at least one pair of solid black sunglasses. I tend to gravitate toward tortoise colors, but these Karen Walkers are so sassy-shaped and chic. They are also pretty sturdy and maintain their shape.

A TAN CARDIGAN

To break up this semi-monochromatic look, I paired this tan cardigan. I typically go for solids, but I loved that this tan, camel cardigan had the black stripe. It pairs well with black, and again, that is my most worn neutral. I would tell anyone that a black, grey, white, or brown cardigan is a staple.

MULES

These Steve Madden mule flats have been on repeat. They match white, grey, and black- all of which I wear often. The closed toe creates a put-together look without the commitment of a tie. I am unsure if this snakeskin print is still available, but it is a fresh variation to our everyday leopard, that many consider a neutral.

CROSSBODY

The crossbody I am wearing is an affordable dupe of the classic Chanel boy bag. This bag is under $200 where your average Chanel bag (though I would love to own one later in life) averages $4,500+. This bag was all I brought on my Italy trip and I stuffed it full. It remains in great condition after being used and abused. The leather is still beautiful, but the hardware is losing its black coating, revealing the metal underneath. It would be great to have one of these classic crossbodies in every color as they are beautifully structured and big enough to hold a regular wallet.

BLACK BELT

Next, you will see the Gucci belt. This is definitely a splurge. However, how often do you buy belts? A classic black belt will stay in style for years to come. Belts are reclaiming fame so pull them out of the depths of your closet.

HOOP EARRINGS

Again with the 90’s accessories, my Sheila Fajl hoop earrings are higher than others. This pair was $70. However, people love Sheila earrings because they are made of lightweight product and do not weigh down your earlobe. They also match EVERYTHING, which makes them a staple. I love them paired with the Gucci belt.

CLASSIC DENIM IN A MODERN CUT

Finally, these cropped Mother Insider denim are insanely soft and stretchy. The fabric feels like butter. I get more compliments on these jeans than any other pair. The widget below lists this pair and a more affordable brand with the same cut. I love that the crop flatters the legs, is high-waisted, and gives a little peek-a-boo of cute shoes! Finally, they are on a great sale right now from $225 to $151!
