Happy Tuesday my wonderful readers! Today I want to tell you about a beautiful wooden watch brand that inspired us to get a little adventure into our lives the first weekend of spring! Be sure to read all the way to the end of this post for details on a contest YOU could win to help get one of the beauties into your life.
You may know my husband Brad or have read about him in older posts. Brad and I have been looking to update our closets for spring and summer, and he mentioned he could use a rugged watch with a light-shaded dial for summer activities, including camping, fishing, golf, and daily wear. Brad is quite the connoisseur of watches, and he is particular about what he wears. He last received a new watch at our wedding two years ago, so we started the hunt for something to add to his young collection.
Brad was highly impressed with the craftsmanship and intricate wood detail on The Conway by JORD. He likes high contrast and favors two-tone watches, so he preferred the Zebrawood and Dark Sandalwood color. It is a quartz Citizen Miyota movement. It is a classic chronograph style and has hour, minute, second, and date functions. My personal favorite detail is the knurling grid pattern on the bezel as well as the subtle blue detail of the “55” second mark and seconds hand. The minute and hour hands have luminescence for ease of night read.
We received it promptly; a wooden case with the Jord logo was inside the box delivered on our front porch. It seems the company has thought of everything: the unique watch is propped around a burlap pillow, and includes a wooden tag, lens cloth, custom wood-preserving oil applicator, and a cleaning cloth. It was evident that every detail of our order was thought out passionately.
Brad was excited to receive the wooden watch and threw it on immediately. The natural beauty of the wooden watch inspired us to get into nature! We decided to test the cool watch on our drive out to Jumping Off Rock, a magnificent view of Lake Jocassee in Sunset, South Carolina. The view was deemed a ‘destination of a lifetime’ by National Geographic in an edition describing “50 of the World’s Last Great Places.” The road that drives to Jumping Off Rock is 9 miles of rugged, dirt road. Brad had just installed new tires and a lift kit, so the wooden watch inspired us to get into the woods and finally tackle the adventure.
For men or women, jewelry and accessories pull an outfit together. JORD wooden watches are classic, functional, and stylish staples to expand your wardrobe options for years to come. Finally, JORD watches are also very affordable.
We rode over small trees, passed a small creek waterfall, and put his 2001 Ford F150’s suspension to test. Our 3-year-old Boxer, Crescent, joined.
We stopped at several lookouts, each better than the last, thinking each view must be Jumping Off Rock. Check out my last post about our trip HERE for pictures of one view.
Eventually, we arrived upon a spot where a few cars were pulled off to the side. We parked and started walking up to what appeared to be the peak of the mountain. With our final steps leading to the top, there was no doubt that we had arrived.
The views were absolutely breathtaking! Some moments remind you to stop and smell the roses (or pine and sandalwood) and love the souls around you. A special thank you to my sister Tillman and her fiance Blair for making the trip with us and capturing these photos.
A plaque indicated that just beyond the lookout was an off-limits Peregrine Falcon nesting area. The Falcons fly from one side of the rock to another and land in a tree about a quarter mile away. They held their wings spread wide, perhaps as a mating practice.
The trip was spontaneous and we had to make it back to Greenville in time for me to teach yoga at 6. The Conway watch by Jord helped us keep track of time. Brad says the wooden watch fits well and is surprisingly comfortable and lightweight. The dark sandalwood brown matches everything he owns! I feel people either gravitate toward brown or black shades in their wardrobe. Of course, Brad and I are also polar opposites in this preference
The JORD website reads,
“The value of a watch is not in being able to tell how much time has passed, but in being aware of the need to make that time count. Moments are bigger than minutes and your watch should tell more than time.”
This statement resonates with me as winter flew by and we have remained so busy this year. Brad’s unique wooden watch will be a reminder of our spring adventure, but it will remind us to slow down and enjoy our summer. We hope to get outdoors and spend as much time together as possible from here out.
I have my eye on the ladies watches HERE and especially love the rose gold, navy, and turquoise dial options.
Now I have exciting news for YOU! I have teamed up with JORD wooden watches to offer one lucky reader a chance to win $100 OFF his or her own JORD watch until June 30, 2017.
